Halimah Bachik

Few weeks ago I went to my old school, STAR to attend its 50 years celebration. Nothing much can be shared with you since I'm not engaged in all of the activities held...not trying to be passive but I think being an observer should be enough for me to escape from the burden in the faculty...heheh!! Thanx to doyok for the drive...

It was really nice to see back my friends there even though only a few of us was able to make it there...what make me excited was to have a breakfast in Halimah Bachik restaurant in Taman Chempaka...hahah!! What a great meal...kuey teow bandung kat situ mmg masyuk...siut lame gile ah tak makan...sume org dalam tuh masih same..dari yg tukang canai roti..pakcik jage kaunter...pakcik masak mee bandung ngan abg buat air...takde yg bertukar...fuhh!!

Yosh...finally it comes to the end of year 4...just finished our medicine theory paper which was fair and square...the MCQs were quite difficult and challenging...and the essay questions was quite easy...2 cases of left lobar orthostatic pneumonia and Parkinson's disease...damn I was the person who were presenting about Parkinsonism in Neuro HKL...but I have no time to revise it again last nite since I went to sleep in front of the TV while waiting for AC Milan victory against Liverpool...nice Kaka!!

Em...like the other postings...I don't know what to do after this...we have a week break before entering the final year...wah!!too short to enjoy the holidays and get a peace in my mind...hu!!I'm just thinking what I've lost since I entered this course...wa!! I miss 'them' so much!!

I was in a school band since form 1...I choosed to play a C flute because I like seruling buluh and those who playing it look smart and handsome...hahah!!what a stupid reasons!! It took 2 years for me to master the fingering and got the pitch right and that time I can play all the notes in 4 octaves just in one minute!! I never regrets playing it since the sound was so nice and peaceful... all my stress and problems went away thru its sounds and melody [and of course all the stress and probelms came back again after I stop playing it..haha!!]...Now, it has been 5 years since I left it and maybe I have lost the skills and the techniques...aii!! Sure tokwan dah lagik power dari aku...die ade flute sendiri bole laa practice...ceh!!

I also joined my school rugby team...eventhough I was not a good player and represents the state...I did enjoy my training and learning about the game...we were so proud being the ruggers or better known as STAR CobraTasha...we were very enjoyed and loved this game!! "the rough game played by gentlemen.." - that what was arwah Nawi often said to me...

I have lost my campus life...no more hot UiTM chicks to flirt around and no more active social life...now it's all about patient and medicine...boring!! Thinking about it everyday make my brain sizzled...I'm at the point of feeling nauseated when going to the ward...fuh!! It's very hard to hang around with my friends from the old school aw well as my non-meds friends...poor me!! My girl also has to suffer..being so lonely and missing me a lot...hu!!

I really lost 'them'...and I'm always hoping to get them back...damn I really want it!!

Tersebutlah alkisah...

SEKOLAH TUANKU ABDUL RAHMAN atau lebih dikenali sebagai STAR telah ditubuhkan pada tanggal 14 Januari 1957 di sebuah tempat di Ipoh yang dikenali sebagai Baeza Avenue atau kini dikenali dengan nama Ashby Road. Pada masa itu ia dikenali dengan nama THE MALAY SECONDARY SCHOOL (MSS). Objektif penubuhan sekolah ini adalah untuk memberi pendidikan yang lebih sempurna kepada anak-anak bumiputera luar bandar agar mereka dapat menikmati kemudahan pembelajaran sama seperti rakan-rakan mereka di bandar.

Pada 2 haribulan Januari 1958, ia telah berpindah dari Baeza Avenue ke tapak sekarang yang pada waktu itu dikenali sebagai ‘Tiger Lane’. STAR telah berubah wajah menjadi sebuah sekolah yang gah dengan bangunannya yang modern waktu itu di atas tapak seluas 46 ekar. Pada 14 Mei 1958,sekali lagi sejarah terukir apabila THE MALAY SECONDARY SCHOOL ini telah ditukarkan namanya kepada SEKOLAH TUANKU ABDUL RAHMAN (STAR) seperti yang kita kenali hari ini.

Pada 23 September 1958, Al-marhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Duli Yang Maha Mulia Yang Dipertuan Agong Pertama Tanah Melayu telah berkenan untuk mencemar duli merasmikan pembukaan sekolah ini. Baginda juga telah berkenan menyempurnakan istiadat permasyuran nama sekolah ini dengan nama SEKOLAH TUANKU ABDUL RAHMAN sempena nama baginda.

Pada peringkat awal, terdapat 16 orang tenaga pengajar telah diamanahkan untuk mendidik 360 orang pelajar yang dibahagikan kepada 5 buah kelas tingkatan satu dan empat buah kelas peralihan. Bahasa pengantar yang digunakan pada waktu itu ialah Bahasa Inggeris. STAR telah menjadi sebuah sekolah yang disegani di bawah kepimpinan pengetuanya yang pertama iaitu Al-marhum Tun Hamdan bin Sheikh Tahir (jawatan yang terakhir beliau ialah Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Dipertua Negeri Pulau Pinang).

Sejak dari hari pertama penubuhannya, STAR telah menjadi tempat bernaung pelajar-pelajar yang datang dari seluruh negara. Ramai anak petani, nelayan dan pekebun telah berpeluang untuk menimba ilmu di sekolah bertuah ini. Tidak hairan mengapa ia menjadi alma mater bagi seluruh bekas pelajar STAR dan juga guru-gurunya.

Selama lebih daripada empat dekad, STAR telah berjaya mengotakan janjinya untuk melahirkan anak-anak bangsa yang berjaya dalam bidang pelajaran dan kokurikulum. Pada hari ini kita dapat melihat ramai lulusan STAR yang menjadi pemimpin negara yang terbilang, ahli-ahli korporat yang berjaya serta barisan cendikiawan yang disegani ramai. Banyak agensi kerajaan dan swasta yang diterajui oleh anak-anak yang dahulunya pernah menuntut di STAR.

Kini usia STAR sudah menjangkau 50 tahun sama seperti usia negara Malaysia yang tercinta ini, bermakna pada tahun 2007 nanti, STAR akan menyambut perayaan JUBLI EMAS menandakan satu usia yang cukup matang bagi sebuah institusi yang disegani di tanah air.

Walaupun STAR pernah melalui pelbagai dugaan serta jerit- perih, namun ia tetap teguh berdiri sebagai sebuah institusi pendidikan yang unggul di negara kita. STAR pernah melalui zaman suka dan duka yang kadang kala mencalarkan sedikit sebanyak reputasinya sebagai sebuah sekolah elit. Namun demikian STAR akan terus gagah melangkah ke hadapan tidak kira apa halangan yang mendatang; ibarat kata pepatah ‘membujur lalu, melintang patah’.

Kini walaupun terpaksa bersaing dengan 53 buah lagi Sekolah Berasrama Penuh serta terpaksa berhadapan dengan sekolah-sekolah premier lain di seluruh pelusuk tanah air, STAR akan terus berusaha meletakkan dirinya menjadi sebuah sekolah yang cemerlang, gemilang lagi terbilang di negara ini.

Azam untuk berjaya akan terus tersemat di dada seluruh warga STAR. Iltizam untuk meletakkan STAR pada kedudukan teratas akan terus membara di hati anak-anak didik dan mereka yang terlibat dengan STAR.

“ILMU PANDUAN HIDUP” dan “TRADISI KECEMERLANGAN” menjadi pegangan kami.

When the STAR winds...

“Melihat bunyi mendengar warna”

Don’t tell me there are other more interesting things than seeing back my long time no see school band. My trip to SSP Cyberjaya which was guided by Psycho was really a trip to remember…the place where we meet Mat Bond, our school band teacher. You don’t know how many thousands he had spent from his own money just to make sure our band still alive when we first started 10 years ago. And you also can’t guess how much he had lost and suffer; it was all for the band. I was one of the people at that time to open back the long lost forgotten “bilik band”. Then we cleaned up all the dust and assembled all the disarticulated instruments and polished up all the gloomy steel with the hope it will shine brightly in the future…

It was a hard time to make people around us accept and realize our talent. My first competition in STF JB 1997 was really funny. I hardly play any notes on the score sheet; just put the instrument on the mouth and acting like playing it nicely, wahahahah!!! There are a lot more interesting stories to be shared. I’ll tell you if there is any free time when we hanging out together.

It takes 2 years for me to master the instrument and had a perfect fingering. When I saw them can play nicely, producing quite a good sound made me feel proud. It was a nice feel to see that our hard works previously finally made our juniors better than us…in some ways, heh!! And guess what? Most of them are just Form 2 and 3!! What a bright future ahead for the STARWinds!!

Hope they can play better and achieve higher, producing solid, impressive quality of sound and tuning. Make the songs livelier…and most important enjoy playing it!!

Tribute to STAR 9701 - 13th January 2007

10 Years Down the Road…of Glory & Victory!!

Happy Birthday to all of you bro…the STAR 9701, Batch 41!!! Still miss you all very much!! I can still remember the first day we met and how we get thru all the hardship and happiness together…bak kate Parchee…combined!! It was a great 5 years to be with all of you…though your experience with me is not as good and great like the others…but it mean a lot to me…heh!!

Now, after 10 years…some of us have already working…have a good job (and a good pay)…bile lagi nak belanje member weii!! Some further their studies in degrees and masters...so who gonna be the first to get married??[of course few have already fucked the girl(s)]…sort of pre-marital sex…hahahahah!!! Don’t forget to apply a mechanical barrier(s) and remind your partner(s) to take ‘morning-after’ pill…heh!!

Once again…happy birthday STAR 41!! Hope we can meet again, all together!! May the success be with all of you and do pray for me too…aku dah tak tahan ni…asyik depresi jek!!
